[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) worldwide has surpassed 80 million.
According to Worldometer's tally on the 16th, the number of confirmed cases currently stands at 80,900,326. The death toll is 438,001.
The United States has the highest number of confirmed cases at 2,180,986, while Brazil has added more than 20,000 new cases in a single day, bringing its total confirmed cases to 888,271. Following are Russia with 537,210 cases and India with 343,026 cases.

In South Korea, confirmed cases continue to occur steadily, mainly in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, and the situation remains unstable as four additional cases have been reported in Gyeongnam Province.
