Magnitude 5.7 Earthquake in Eastern Turkey: 1 Dead, 19 Injured... Rescue Operations Underway
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] An earthquake occurred in eastern Turkey, resulting in 1 death and 18 injuries.
The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority announced on the 14th (local time) that a magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck 15 km east of Yedisu city in the Karlıova region of Bing?l Province at 4:24 PM.
The provincial government reported that two police watchtowers collapsed in the Kaynar Pınar village, causing the death of one security guard and injuring two others. Seven people were rescued from the collapsed watchtower site, and rescue operations are ongoing for the remaining three.

Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay stated, "Eighteen people were injured in the earthquake," adding, "Fortunately, no one is in critical condition." The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority reported that 10 houses in Elmalı village and Dinarbey village were damaged, and 26 vehicles along with 109 rescue personnel were dispatched to the scene.
