[Asia Economy Kim Bong-ju, Intern Reporter] Regarding the recent incident in an apartment in Wonju, Gangwon Province, where three family members were found dead, the person who posted key investigation details, including the condition of the son's body and the father's criminal record, has been identified as a fellow police officer.
According to Yonhap News, on the 15th, the Gangwon Provincial Police Agency revealed that the individual who posted comments about the case on a private internet cafe operated by membership was Officer A from the Wonju Police Station. Officer A is reported to be an employee of a different department than the one handling the investigation of the case.
Earlier, starting from the 11th, comments related to the incident beginning with "This happened during my duty..." rapidly spread across various online communities.
The post written by Officer A included details such as the subject of the case having deserted during military service in 1999, killing his girlfriend, and serving 17 years in prison, as well as the son's skull being depressed by a hammer blow.
It also mentioned that the police station was thrown into chaos when the incident suddenly occurred around 6 a.m.
If a public official or a former public official discloses official secrets in the course of their duties as stipulated by law, they may face imprisonment or detention for up to two years or disqualification for up to five years.
The Gangwon police stated that they plan to strictly take measures, including applying the charge of "disclosure of official secrets" against Officer A, punishing him, and imposing disciplinary actions.
On the 7th, a fire presumed to be arson broke out on the 6th floor of an apartment in Wonju. A (14), a middle school student at the time, was found stabbed to death in the apartment after the fire was extinguished. Flammable materials and oil containers were found in the master bedroom and a small room of the apartment.

A's mother, B (37), and father, C (42), fell into the flowerbed on the first floor of the apartment; B died, and C was transported to the hospital where he later died. The couple was reportedly in the process of divorce.
