Shinhan Life Insurance Opens Digital Talent Development Program with Pohang University of Science and Technology
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Sung Dae-gyu, CEO of Shinhan Life Insurance, has embarked on nurturing digital talents to leap forward as a leading company in the 'Insure Tech' field, which combines insurance and technology.
On the 15th, Shinhan Life Insurance announced that it will conduct a company-wide digital talent artificial intelligence (AI) training program prepared through industry-academic cooperation with Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) for its employees.
Last year, Shinhan Life Insurance signed an industry-academic cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with POSTECH and established a digital talent training course, expecting about 100 employees to complete it by this year. The program consists of introductory and advanced courses for Data Translators and runs for a total of 16 weeks.
To prevent the resurgence of COVID-19 and comply with social distancing measures, the entire course is conducted online in real-time as remote lectures.
The program covers practical applications of big data and AI techniques, data-driven process analysis, and fostering the creation of new business value using Insure Tech methods, contributing to enhancing employees' data utilization capabilities.
Shinhan Life plans to promote blockchain healthcare expert courses and a master's program in financial engineering at Korea University, centered on graduates of the digital talent AI training program, aiming to elevate employees' digital utilization skills and expertise to the highest level.

A Shinhan Life Insurance official stated, "To prepare for the post-COVID era, we are promoting the application of digital-based technologies throughout the entire insurance process, from sales to contract maintenance and management," adding, "This training program will serve as a catalyst connecting to digital finance."
