Military Officer Who Visited 'Itaewon Club' Recovers from COVID-19... Disciplinary Action to Begin Soon
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] An army officer who was diagnosed with COVID-19 after visiting an Itaewon club in violation of the Ministry of National Defense guidelines has been declared fully recovered. The military authorities plan to initiate disciplinary procedures.
On the 13th, the Ministry of National Defense announced that Captain A, belonging to an army direct unit in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province (Yongin patient number 68), has been declared fully recovered from COVID-19.
Previously, Captain A visited the King Club in Itaewon from the night of the 1st to the early morning of the 2nd of last month. This was an action that violated the Ministry of National Defense’s guidelines restricting movement after work hours. Subsequently, Captain A was diagnosed with COVID-19 on the 8th of the same month.
Sergeant B, belonging to the Cyber Command of the Republic of Korea Army, who also visited an Itaewon club separately, was diagnosed with COVID-19. Following this, a total of 12 confirmed cases linked to the Itaewon club emerged within the military.
