'I Live Alone' Yui: "Hurt by 'Honey Thighs' Malicious Comments at a Young Age... One Meal a Day for 8 Years"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] Yui shared her feelings about malicious comments related to her body. She also revealed her improved health status.
On the 12th, on MBC's 'I Live Alone,' Yui heard from Park Na-rae, "You gained great popularity as 'Honey Thighs' early in your debut. But at some point, you lost a lot of weight, and many people were worried."
In response, Yui said, "When I first joined After School, I was loved for my honey thighs, but I also received many malicious comments, which caused me stress," adding, "During the 'BANG' promotions, I wore a belly shirt, and when 'Yui belly fat' became a controversy, I was deeply hurt at a young age. I was around 21 or 22 years old, and I cried thinking, 'Don't people all have this much belly fat?'"
However, even after losing weight, the malicious comments continued. Yui said, "When I moved on to dramas, I was so thin that many said I had anorexia. I played a sick role in a drama and lost weight by not eating for that role," revealing, "From then on, I started eating one meal a day and lived like that for eight years."
Yui continued, "Whenever I played a sick role, the drama became a hit. I started to have the illusion that people liked that kind of appearance."
