Mayor Ju Nak-yeong Sitting with Nurses: "Gyeongju is Happy Because of You"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongju City, Gyeongbuk Province, announced on the 12th that Mayor Ju Nak-young held a roundtable discussion on the 11th with eight nurses who have been going through difficult times due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) at the International Cultural Exchange Center, which was formerly used as the mayor's official residence.
On that day, Mayor Ju expressed his gratitude to those who have been devotedly working at COVID-19 screening clinics, caring for confirmed patients, managing residents in welfare facilities, and responding to general patients, and engaged in candid conversations with them.
The nurses shared their experiences during the COVID-19 response, including the harsh scrutiny they faced as nurses exposed to the disease, the discomfort and physical exhaustion from wearing Level D protective suits in negative pressure wards, and the heartbreaking stories of confirmed patients. They also proposed to Mayor Ju improvements such as better treatment and increased staffing for nurses, establishment of safety and prevention education programs for the elderly, support for assistive devices for dementia patients, and welfare improvements for people with mental disabilities.
