CoAsia Supplies Wireless Earphone Speaker Units to Chinese Smartphone Manufacturers
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] CoAsia announced on the 12th that it will supply speaker units from its subsidiary BSE to the new wireless earphone (TWS, True Wireless Stereo) product of Company A, one of the four major smartphone manufacturers in China.
Company A will equip BSE's speaker units in its new wireless earphone product scheduled for release in September. Mass production of the product is expected to begin next month. BSE is currently discussing supply contracts with other companies among the four major smartphone manufacturers in China, excluding Company A.
The wireless earphone speaker units supplied to Company A are equipped with BSE's proprietary technology called 'Balanced Membrane (BM),' enabling the highest level of sound quality. The supply contract was finalized after meeting all specified standards in customer emotional evaluation and frequency waveform evaluation.
Established in 1987, BSE is a specialized company in microphone (MIC) and speaker (SPK) modules, with CoAsia holding 100% of its shares. Its major client is Samsung Electronics, and it currently supplies parts for the wireless earphone 'Galaxy Buds' series.
A company official stated, "With the rapid growth of the wireless earphone market, BSE, which has over 30 years of experience and know-how, is expected to benefit in the mid to long term. We will strengthen market dominance by diversifying our client base based on product competitiveness."
Market research firm Counterpoint Research forecasted that the wireless earphone market, which was valued at $16.6 billion (approximately 19 trillion KRW) last year, will grow to $31.5 billion (approximately 37 trillion KRW) this year. In particular, consumer preference for various high value-added features such as noise canceling, waterproofing, and improved call quality is increasing, and demand for new products is expected to continue.
