Jeonju City, Illegal Parking in Child Protection Zones... "Residents, Please Report It~"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Gominhyeong] Jeonju City has decided to introduce a resident reporting system to eradicate illegal parking, the main cause of traffic accidents in school zones.
The city announced on the 11th that starting from the 29th, it will operate a resident reporting system for illegal parking in school zones in front of elementary schools.
This is intended to protect children's traffic safety by preemptively eliminating accident causes amid the significant strengthening of traffic accident punishment standards in school zones following the implementation of the so-called 'Min-sik Law.'
The enforcement area covers roads in front of elementary school main gates (from the main entrance to the point where the road meets another intersection), and any citizen can report illegally parked vehicles on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
To report, citizens need to take two photos at one-minute intervals and submit them via the Safe Report app. The city will verify the reported vehicles and impose fines of 80,000 KRW for passenger cars and 90,000 KRW for vans.
The city plans to operate a guidance period until the end of July to prevent confusion caused by the implementation of the resident reporting system.
