Guro-gu and Guro Police Station Join Hands for Safe Urban Regeneration
Guro 2-dong Urban Regeneration Project Business Agreement... Priority Consultation for Crime Prevention Environmental Design and Security CCTV Installation... Establishment of Public-Police Cooperation System for Safe Residential Environment... Agreement Ceremony Omitted to Prevent COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) and Guro Police Station (Chief Lee Byung-gwi) have joined hands for safe urban regeneration.
Guro-gu plans to create a safe urban environment from crime by incorporating Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) into the Guro 2-dong urban regeneration revitalization project through a business agreement with Guro Police Station.
Following its selection as a ‘Seoul-type Urban Regeneration Revitalization Area’ in April last year, Guro-gu is promoting the ‘Guro 2-dong Urban Regeneration Revitalization Project’ to improve the aging environment and activate the resident community in the densely populated residential area around 713, Guro 2-dong (101,828㎡).
This business agreement was prepared to enhance the efficiency of urban regeneration project implementation and reduce the crime rate in the area through a cooperative system between the district office and the police station.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲ matters related to creating safe villages (installation of pedestrian-priority roads, safe return paths, fire-fighting facilities, etc.) ▲ discovery of CPTED policy projects such as creating safe environments for women and children ▲ improvement of traffic and parking issues ▲ priority consultation when installing crime prevention CCTVs.
A Guro-gu official said, “Through this agreement, we plan to promote various cooperative projects with Guro Police Station,” adding, “We will do our best to make Guro safer and a better place to live.”
To prevent COVID-19, the two institutions signed the agreement in writing without holding a ceremony.
