Guro-gu Conducts Reading Program Utilizing Social Media
Providing Opportunities for Residents Struggling to Visit Libraries Due to Prolonged COVID-19... This Year’s ‘Guro’s Book’ Introduction Video Posted on YouTube, Author Instagram Live, Online Reading Meetings, etc.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is conducting a reading program utilizing social media.
On the 10th, Guro-gu announced that it has prepared a non-face-to-face reading activity program to provide residents, who cannot visit libraries due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), with opportunities to access various books.
First, Guro-gu is introducing this year’s selected book, ‘Guro’s Book,’ online.
Videos introducing the book and author, top 5 memorable scenes, recommended places, music, and performances that match the book, and authors’ reading methods are produced and posted on YouTube.
‘That Guy, Worry’ and ‘Shout, Playground’ were uploaded on the 27th of last month and the 3rd of this month, respectively; ‘Struggling’ will be released on the 10th, and ‘Anyway, Woodpecker’ on the 17th. Anyone can watch by accessing the YouTube channel ‘Gaebong Children’s Library.’
A live broadcast with author Choi Min-ji, winner of the ‘2019 WEE Picture Book Award,’ will also be held. The author will personally introduce her new work ‘Magic Bouncing Room’ and interact with viewers through real-time comments.
It will be held on the 17th from 7 PM for one hour via Instagram Live of Guro Miracle Library.
Guro-gu also operates an ‘online reading club’ to encourage residents’ continuous reading activities. Participants read 30 pages of a designated book daily and share favorite sentences or impressions on an internet cafe.
