Two Schools Closed Due to Confirmed COVID-19 Cases Among Students
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] In Incheon, a total of five people, including a family of four men in their 60s and a nursing home resident, tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Incheon City announced on the 9th that a total of five people, including A (61) living in Michuhol-gu and four family members, as well as one resident of a nursing home in Michuhol-gu, tested positive for COVID-19.
Among the confirmed cases on that day were A's daughter B (39) and two granddaughters of A.
The two granddaughters of A are 13 and 9 years old, attending Nam Incheon Girls' Middle School and Incheon Munhak Elementary School, respectively.
The quarantine authorities installed screening clinics on the playgrounds of the middle school and elementary school they attended, conducted specimen tests on the remaining students, and closed the schools.
According to the quarantine authorities, A is the husband of a woman who tested positive the day before (the 8th). Although he had no suspicious symptoms, he underwent specimen testing after his wife was confirmed positive, and later tested positive. A was transferred to a negative pressure room at Gachon University Gil Hospital.
All of A's family members were asymptomatic and were tested at Michuhol-gu Public Health Center around 5 p.m. on the 8th, after which they were confirmed positive.
The quarantine authorities completed disinfection at A's residence and nearby areas and plan to identify A's family's movements and close contacts through epidemiological investigation.
