KEPCO to Conduct Nationwide Power Facility Safety Inspections for One Month Starting from the 10th
Inspection Plan for 14,626 Cases Nationwide Including Transmission, Substation, and Distribution Lines
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) announced on the 9th that it will conduct a national safety inspection for one month starting from the 10th to prepare for natural disasters such as summer heatwaves, heavy rain, and typhoons.
It will inspect 14,626 cases nationwide, including transmission lines, substations, distribution lines, and large construction site facilities.
This year, KEPCO plans to examine 14 locations with significant social impact in case of failure, such as large-scale substations and power tunnels over 20 years old (including the 345kV Sejong Substation).
In addition, special inspections using thermal imaging diagnostics and drones will be conducted on key facilities such as fire-prone facilities and supply lines for multi-use facilities.

A KEPCO official stated, "Any repairs or reinforcements urgently needed identified during this national safety inspection will be addressed immediately or as soon as possible. In particular, facilities where accidents are feared due to structural defects will be referred to specialized institutions for detailed safety inspections."
