Jeonnam Provincial Assembly Member Kim Taegyun Proposes 'Jeonnam Excellent Travel Agency Governor Certification and Support Ordinance'
Selected Excellent Travel Agencies Certified for 3 Years to Promote Qualitative Growth and Competitiveness of Travel Agencies
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Jeonnam Provincial Council announced that Assemblyman Kim Taegyun on the 8th proposed the "Jeollanam-do Excellent Travel Agency Certification and Support Ordinance" to establish sound tourism order and strengthen the competitiveness of Jeonnam's tourism industry by preparing a governor's certification system and support measures for excellent travel agencies in the province.
According to the 5th National Tourism Strategy Meeting, tourism-related consumer spending from January to April this year decreased by about 11 trillion won compared to last year due to COVID-19.
According to the Jeonnam Culture and Tourism Foundation, more than 90% of tourism products from travel agencies in Jeonnam have been canceled, and the difficulties in the tourism industry are increasing day by day.
Chairman Kim Taegyun emphasized, "To provide rest and recharging opportunities to citizens exhausted by COVID-19 and to recover the tourism market, which is facing unprecedented difficulties, it is necessary to designate excellent travel agencies in Jeonnam and provide systematic support at the provincial level."
The certification criteria for excellent travel agencies include product operation performance, management stability, possession of an internal safety manual, etc. Agencies selected as excellent travel agencies through committee review are granted a certification valid for three years.
Support for excellent travel agencies includes awarding certificates, preferential treatment in promotional and marketing support projects, support for improving employment conditions, and capacity-building education.
