Golden Blue to Sell Taiwanese Single Malt Whiskey 'Kavalan' at Jeju Duty-Free Shop
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] Golden Blue announced on the 8th that it has introduced the world-renowned Taiwanese single malt whiskey "Kavalan" to duty-free shops in downtown Jeju and began sales on the 28th of last month.
Recently, the domestic liquor market has seen a steady expansion of self-consumption trends. Golden Blue first introduced Kavalan to the Incheon Airport duty-free shop in February so that consumers could enjoy high-quality liquor with excellent taste in various locations. Following the Incheon Airport duty-free shop, the sales channel has now been expanded to downtown Jeju duty-free shops to allow the increasing number of domestic travelers to easily purchase Kavalan.
The products introduced to the downtown Jeju duty-free shops are three types from the Kavalan brand's cask strength line called the "Solist" series, which is bottled without mixing the whiskey with water. These include the "Solist ex-Bourbon" and "Solist Vinho Barrique," which first entered Korea for duty-free sales in February and have received high praise for their outstanding flavor and distinctive taste, as well as the "Solist Port," which has been imported and distributed domestically since 2018 and is recognized among domestic whiskey enthusiasts.
The Solist ex-Bourbon is carefully matured in selected American ex-bourbon oak barrels, possessing complex aromas such as vanilla and coconut. It is produced without cold filtration, allowing consumers to enjoy the rich original taste of single malt whiskey.
The Solist Vinho Barrique, matured in premium American oak wine barrels previously used for aging wine, is a whiskey perfectly harmonizing soft vanilla, pepper, spices, and the taste and aroma of ripe fruits. The Solist Port is matured in Portuguese dessert wine port wine casks, offering a sweet chocolate flavor along with the rich fruitiness of plums, blueberries, and other fruits when consumed.
All three duty-free products have an alcohol content ranging from 50% to 59.9% and come in 1ℓ bottles. These products can be purchased at the Jeju Tourism Organization's Jungmun duty-free shop.

Kim Dong-wook, CEO of Golden Blue, said, "We decided to introduce Kavalan to downtown duty-free shops so that domestic visitors to Jeju can enjoy it at a reasonable price," adding, "We will actively expand home sales channels for those who want to create an atmosphere at home with Kavalan."
