Government Emergency Disaster Relief Fund, Virtually 100% Received... 110,000 Households Remaining
Applications for the government's emergency disaster relief fund credit and debit card charging began at 7 a.m. on the 11th through the websites of nine card companies. Similar to the public mask 5-day rotation system, a day-of-the-week system is applied for applications, and from the 16th, applications can be made at any time. The support fund amounts are 400,000 KRW for single-person households, 600,000 KRW for two-person households, 800,000 KRW for three-person households, and 1,000,000 KRW for households of four or more. According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 8th, the total amount of Emergency Disaster Relief Fund disbursed over 35 days from the 4th of last month to the 7th of this month was 13.5908 trillion won, with 21.6 million households receiving the funds.
Out of the total Emergency Disaster Relief Fund budget of 14.2448 trillion won, 95.4% has been disbursed, and 99.5% of the total 21.71 million eligible households have received the support.
Approximately 110,000 households have yet to receive the Emergency Disaster Relief Fund, with about 654 billion won remaining. If they do not apply by the deadline, the entire amount will be automatically donated. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to provide the Emergency Disaster Relief Fund as much as possible through home visit applications targeting the elderly and disabled.
By payment method (cumulative), 14.63 million households (67.4% of the total) applied for credit/debit card charging. The disbursed amount was 9.6095 trillion won. This was followed by cash with 2.86 million households (13.2%) receiving 1.3012 trillion won, prepaid cards with 2.55 million households (11.8%) receiving 1.656 trillion won, and local love gift certificates with 1.56 million households (7.2%) receiving 1.0241 trillion won.
The application for the Emergency Disaster Relief Fund via credit/debit card charging closed on the 5th. Those who missed the credit/debit card application deadline can apply for disaster relief funds in the form of local love gift certificates and prepaid cards at town, township, and neighborhood community centers.
