Pohang City Expands Designation of Hospitals and Pharmacies for 'Our Neighborhood Life Love' Program
'Early Connection with Specialized Institutions at the Frontline for "Extreme Suicide Risk"'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Pohang City, Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 8th that the Buk-gu Health Center Mental Health Welfare Center will expand the operation of the 'MOM Wooltari Project' to discover individuals at risk of suicide and establish a suicide prevention safety net.
The MOM Wooltari Project is a program that connects individuals at risk of suicide to specialized institutions in a timely manner through the designation of 'Our Neighborhood Life-Loving Hospitals and Pharmacies.' It was planned based on the results of psychological autopsy interviews, which showed that people who die by suicide most often visit general hospitals or pharmacies, rather than psychiatric clinics, within a month before their death.
The 'Life-Loving Hospitals and Pharmacies' program, which has been operating since 2016, designated four new locations this year. This brings the total to 30 hospitals and clinics and 23 pharmacies currently participating.
