[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] LG Uplus is providing guidance on the use of emergency disaster relief funds in the voice of Baek Jong-won. When calling a self-employed or small business store, callers can receive a free call connection tone until August that informs them, "Our store accepts emergency disaster relief funds."
The emergency disaster relief funds, ranging from 400,000 to 1,000,000 KRW per household, can be used at small business establishments and neighborhood markets excluding large corporations. However, some stores have been unclear about whether they accept the funds, causing inconvenience to customers. LG Uplus introduced this service with that in mind.
By setting the free call connection tone provided by LG Uplus, customers who call will hear the message, "Our store accepts emergency disaster relief funds." Additionally, after the call ends, an informational text message containing details about the availability of the emergency disaster relief funds and promotional information about the store (business hours, location, phone number, etc.) will be sent through the ‘Uri Maejang Alim Message’ service.
Stores wishing to use the service can apply through LG Uplus’s website. This event will run for three months and will switch to a paid service starting in September. The call connection tone does not incur a production fee of 22,000 KRW or a monthly basic fee of 2,420 KRW, providing a benefit worth approximately 30,000 KRW over three months.

When using the Uri Maejang Alim Message service, the monthly basic fee of 1,100 KRW is waived until August, offering a benefit of about 3,300 KRW over three months. However, a charge of 110 KRW per message applies for sending large-capacity messages (MMS) to customers. Kim Ji-hoon, Executive Director of LG Uplus’s Wired Business Division, said, “We hope that the free call connection tone and Uri Maejang Alim Message services provided to SOHO stores nationwide struggling due to COVID-19 will help promote and attract many customers.”
