Ulsan Symphony Orchestra to Hold 'Masked Audience' Performance Instead of No-Audience Show
On the 12th at the Munyehoegwan Grand Theater: 'Classic Hal Ppeon(fun)' World Music Journey
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The first stage of the Ulsan City Symphony Orchestra's 2020 Discovery Series 'Classic Hal Ppeon (FUN)' concert will be held at 8 p.m. on the 12th at the Ulsan Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater.
This concert was originally scheduled for April 16 but was postponed due to COVID-19 and will now be presented on this day. However, masks must still be worn to attend the performance.
Planned under the new subtitle 'World Music Journey,' this concert is designed to be easy and fun, covering the past, present, and future of classical music. The first session will explore classical music from the United States and the United Kingdom.
Following last year, this year’s performance will feature conductor Seo Hee-tae’s conducting and commentary, presenting Edward Elgar's 'Pomp and Circumstance March,' Ralph Vaughan Williams' 'English Folk Song Suite,' and Leonard Bernstein's 'Candide Overture.'
With narration by Park In-kyung, a member of the City Choir, the concert will include an introduction to the orchestra’s instrument sections and performance commentary, featuring representative works by British and American composers such as Benjamin Britten's 'Introduction to the Orchestra for Young People.' There will also be a humorous segment sharing interesting facts related to these pieces.
Admission to the concert is 10,000 KRW for all seats. Members of the center receive a 30% discount, groups get 20%, and students and youth card holders enjoy a 50% discount.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 within the community, only part of the seating will be open. Out of 1,428 seats in the Grand Theater, only 420 seats will be available with sufficient zigzag spacing between each seat, and the third floor will remain closed. Masks must be worn throughout the performance.
