Gangdong-gu, Fostering Residents and Youth as 'Planners' Leading Culture
Promotion of 'Saenghwalmunhwa' Revitalization Project to Overcome Corona Blue
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) is promoting the project "Speaking Happiness through Culture and Arts" to encourage residents' proactive cultural activities and revitalize everyday culture.
The project is carried out as part of the "2020 Gangdong-gu Community Innovation Plan," which centers on public-private governance.
The purpose is to nurture residents, the main force of local culture, as everyday culture planners and create a unique everyday culture brand for Gangdong-gu, thereby allowing culture and arts to flourish in the daily lives of residents.
The project consists mainly of the "Governance Table" and "Everyday Culture Producer Training" to enhance the cultural agency of general residents, and the "Youth Culture Planning School" to cultivate specialized planners tailored to the local community.
First, the "Governance Table" operates as a forum for freely discussing everyday culture and discovering actionable agendas. The "Everyday Culture Producer (PD) Training Program" involves learning the basics of cultural planning, deriving agendas linked to the Governance Table, and directly planning and executing projects. Anyone aged 19 or older, including residents, everyday culture clubs, and cultural space operators, can freely participate.
Next, the "Youth Culture Planning School (Culture Planning Full of Passion)" for young people aged 20 to 39 is conducted in an academy format to train professional planners.
The program includes theoretical education, project execution, and a performance-sharing workshop. It is scheduled to be held every Monday from 1 PM to 5 PM at the Angel Workshop Hub Center from June 22 to mid-October.
Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, "I hope this project becomes a small movement to overcome COVID-19 for residents exhausted by the prolonged pandemic. We will support residents to participate in cultural governance programs like 'Speaking Happiness through Culture and Arts,' becoming agents who regularly plan and enjoy culture, and to enjoy a richer daily life through culture and arts."
Each course will select 20 participants through document screening and individual interviews after receiving applications.
