[Asia Economy Reporter Sung Ki-ho] A man in his 60s who threatened to set fire to Busan City Hall, claiming he had developed a new type of mask to prevent infection from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and demanding its use, was sentenced to one year in prison in the first trial.
The Busan District Court Criminal Division 6 (Chief Judge Choi Jin-gon) announced on the 7th that it sentenced A (67) to one year in prison on charges of obstruction of official duties and attempted arson of a public building.
According to the verdict, A was brought to trial on charges of bringing two 2-liter thinner containers to the integrated civil service office at Busan City Hall in Yeonje-gu, Busan, at 11:35 a.m. on March 30 and threatening, "If you do not let me speak with the Prime Minister's Office, I will set fire."
