US Offers Support for Spill Cleanup via Russia Route
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The United States has offered to assist with the cleanup efforts related to the diesel spill at a thermal power plant in Siberia, Russia.
According to foreign media, on the 6th (local time), U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expressed regret over the diesel spill accident via Twitter and proposed, "The United States is ready to help Russia resolve this environmental disaster."
In response, Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, replied with gratitude to the United States through YouTube.
Spokesperson Zakharova described it as "a goodwill gesture proving that the two countries can work and cooperate together for a good cause," and also indicated a willingness to accept the U.S. offer.

On the 29th of last month, an explosion in a fuel tank at the Norilsk-Taymyr thermal power plant in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Siberia, Russia, caused about 20,000 tons of diesel to spill. The diesel flowed into the Ambarnaya River near the power plant.
