4 School-Linked Sports Clubs Selected in Gyeongnam ... 1.6 Billion KRW Support Over 5 Years
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Sharon] Gyeongnam Province and the Gyeongnam Sports Council announced on the 5th that four sports clubs in the province were selected in the '2020 School-Linked (One Sport) Sports Club Contest' hosted by the Korea Sports Council.
The sports clubs selected this time are the tentative Changwon Sangnam Football Club (Sangnam Elementary School), Changwon 1907 Football Club (Changwon Elementary School), Gimhae Tennis Sports Club (Gimhae City Sports Council), and Treasure Island Namhae Football Club (Namhae Elementary School).
These clubs will receive funding of up to 1.6 billion KRW (400 million KRW per club) over the next five years.
This contest, which received applications from 24 organizations nationwide, underwent document and presentation evaluations as well as on-site inspections, assessing factors such as securing appropriate club facilities, operation of club recreational sports, and financial capability.
As a result, along with the existing 10 public sports clubs in the province, a total of 14 sports clubs including 4 school-linked sports clubs will take the lead in revitalizing recreational sports.
School-linked sports clubs are a new type designed to activate public sports clubs by lowering entry barriers for organizations that do not meet requirements such as securing necessary facilities or operating multiple sports, which were required in the existing public sports club contest guidelines.
They are operated through the establishment of non-profit corporations or social cooperatives, similar to existing comprehensive public sports clubs.
