Busan City announced on the 5th that, in preparation for the summer vacation season, it will transform five existing city buses (routes 71, 96, 141, 148, 210) into 'Busan Marine Buses' for three months until the end of August, in collaboration with the Busan Public Transportation Citizen Fund and the Busan Bus Transportation Business Association.
The Marine Bus features designs of Busan's landmarks and hot spots both inside and outside the vehicle. The bus floor depicts Busan's beaches, the ceiling shows a sky with flying seagulls, and the windows display Busan's beautiful coastline. Illustrations themed on 'The Little Prince's Consolation' are also drawn in every corner of the vehicle, including the exit doors and armrests.
This event was prepared to deliver comfort, rest, and healing messages to Busan citizens who are spending tiring and frustrating days due to COVID-19 ahead of the summer vacation season.
One more event: From June 20 to July 20, a month-long SNS event will be held where participants can automatically enter by uploading uniquely taken photos of the Marine Bus on their personal Facebook, Instagram, or other SNS accounts. There will also be a Busan citizen support comment writing contest.
Participation is available through the Busan City and Busan Public Transportation Citizen Fund websites. Winners will receive prizes including a Hilton Hotel Busan accommodation voucher (1 person), iPods (5 people), and 20,000 KRW recharge vouchers for Cashbee transportation cards (20 people).
