Lotte Homeshopping Expands Leisure Goods Sales Amid Social Distancing in Leisure Activities
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Lotte Homeshopping announced on the 5th that it will strengthen sales of related products as non-face-to-face outdoor activities based on social distancing in daily life, such as camping, hiking, and cycling, have become active due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Analyzing the sales status of leisure products from January 1 to June 4 this year, Lotte Homeshopping found that sales of team sports equipment, which involve frequent contact with others, decreased by about 70% compared to the same period last year, and swimming gear also dropped by 60%. On the other hand, as small-scale outdoor leisure activities gained popularity, bicycle sales increased by 54% and camping goods by 50%. Accordingly, Lotte Homeshopping plans to strengthen sales of leisure products suitable for social distancing through various channels such as T-commerce and online malls.
On the 5th at 7:40 PM, the T-commerce channel ‘Lotte One TV’ will exclusively launch the outdoor brand ‘National Geographic’s’ shade tent. It features an expandable design providing ample space, and uses water-resistant and UV-blocking materials. On the 8th at 11:40 PM, an electric bicycle from the electric mobility company ‘Motobello’ will be introduced as a rental product. Equipped with a high-performance motor, it offers excellent driving performance and is suitable not only for commuting but also for nearby bicycle trips.
Additionally, to cater to solo hikers, Lotte Homeshopping will launch ‘Milford trekking shoes’ next month and continue to introduce products suitable for socially distanced leisure activities. Furthermore, the online shopping mall ‘Lotte iMall’ will sell camping goods such as glamping and caravan usage vouchers, portable chairs, and folding tables through the ‘Smart Camping Life’ special exhibition.
