Prosecutors Summon Accounting Officer of Jeong Dae-hyeop for Investigation of Timing Issues

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] The prosecution investigating allegations of mismanagement and accounting irregularities related to donations involving the Justice and Memory Foundation and Yoon Mi-hyang, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, has summoned the person in charge of accounting at the Korean Council for the Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery by Japan (Jeongdae-hyeop), the predecessor of the Justice and Memory Foundation, for questioning.
According to sources from the Justice and Memory Foundation on the 4th, the Criminal Division 4 of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Choi Ji-seok) summoned Mr. A, who was responsible for accounting during the Jeongdae-hyeop period, as a witness on the morning of the same day.
Mr. A is a different individual from the accounting officer of the Justice and Memory Foundation who was previously investigated and the accounting officer of Jeongdae-hyeop who was questioned on the 1st of this month.
Earlier, several civic groups filed complaints with the prosecution against Yoon Mi-hyang, a former chairperson of the Justice and Memory Foundation and a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, along with other related parties, regarding allegations of poor accounting, embezzlement of donations, and suspicions surrounding the purchase and sale of the Anseong shelter since the 11th of last month. The number of complaints filed against Yoon and related parties of the Justice and Memory Foundation and Jeongdae-hyeop currently under investigation by the prosecution has reached about ten cases.

The prosecution also conducted raids over two days, from the 20th to the 21st of last month, at three locations: the Justice and Memory Foundation office in Mapo-gu, Seoul; the War and Women's Human Rights Museum, which is the office address of Jeongdae-hyeop; and the Mapo 'House of Peace.'
