Mapo-gu Extends Mapo 18 Village Bus Route
Direct Access from Sangam World Cup Park Complex 7 to Digital Media City Station
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yudonggyun) will extend the route of Mapo Village Bus No. 18 starting from the 3rd to improve the accessibility of village buses and subways for residents of Sangam-dong.
Residents of Sangam World Cup Park Complexes 5 to 7 had the inconvenience of having to walk more than 10 minutes or transfer buses to use the existing Mapo Village Bus No. 18.
With this extension of the village bus route, nearby residents can now travel directly from Sangam World Cup Park Complex 7 to Digital Media City Station (Subway Line 6, Airport Railroad) without transfers.
The existing Mapo Village Bus No. 18 operated on a route connecting 'Digital Media City Station ~ MBC-World Cup Park Complex 4 ~ DMC Building.'
According to the new route effective from the 3rd, new stops will be added after the DMC Building stop, including Sangam High School stop and Sangam World Cup Park Complexes 6 and 7 stops.
The route length has increased by 1 km from the previous 6.1 km to a total of 7.1 km.
Additionally, during the morning commute hours from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., to minimize travel distance to the subway station, a separate Mapo Village Bus No. 18-1 will operate directly between Sangam High School and Sangam Middle School, which is expected to shorten residents' commute times.
Mapo Village Bus No. 18 operates from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. at intervals of 9 to 13 minutes, while Mapo Village Bus No. 18-1 operates from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. at intervals of 7 to 10 minutes.
The district office is working with Korea Smart Card Company, local bus associations, transportation companies, and bus stop management firms to prevent confusion among users due to the route adjustments.

Mayor Yudonggyun of Mapo-gu said, “We plan to continuously collect residents' opinions and improve areas where public transportation use or transfers are inconvenient,” adding, “We hope that the adjustment of the village bus routes in Sangam-dong will resolve many inconveniences for the residents.”
