9-Year-Old Child Locked in Bag Suffers Cardiac Arrest... Detained for 7 Hours
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Juhee] A 9-year-old child who was found in a state of cardiac arrest inside a travel suitcase by his stepmother was revealed to have been confined in the suitcase for 7 hours.
The Chungnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 3rd that A (9), who was found in a state of cardiac arrest at an apartment in Seobuk-gu, Cheonan on the 1st, was investigated to have been trapped in a travel suitcase for about 7 hours by his stepmother B (43).
On the 1st around noon, B forced her stepson A to get into a travel suitcase measuring approximately 50 cm in width and 71 cm in length.
Afterwards, B went out leaving A locked in the suitcase and returned home around 3:20 p.m. Upon confirming that A had urinated inside the suitcase, she moved him to another suitcase measuring 44 cm in width and 60 cm in length and confined him again.
It was also investigated that B's two biological children were present in the house at the time.
A has not regained consciousness to this day.
The police announced on the 3rd that they have applied for an arrest warrant for B on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes (Child Abuse Punishment Act).

The warrant hearing for B is scheduled to be held this afternoon at the Cheonan branch of the Daejeon District Court.
