Seodaemun-gu Implements Regulatory Reform Contest
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) is conducting the '2020 Regulatory Reform Contest' throughout June to improve inconvenient and unreasonable regulations experienced by residents and businesses in daily life and economic activities.
The contest categories are ▲Welfare (childbirth, childcare, low-income, elderly) ▲Daily Life (transportation, housing, medical care, education) ▲Employment and Jobs (youth, career interrupters, elderly) ▲Small Business and SMEs (business activity difficulties) ▲New Industries (new technologies, new services, renewable energy, advanced medical care), totaling five areas.
Anyone residing in Seodaemun-gu or affiliated with workplaces, schools, or organizations located in Seodaemun-gu can participate in this contest.
Applicants can download the application form from the Seodaemun-gu website (Citizen Participation ⇒ Open Plaza ⇒ Regulatory Reform Contest), fill in the proposal title, current status and issues, improvement plans, expected effects, etc., and send it via email (wlsghk08@sdm.go.kr) by 6:00 PM on June 30.
The district will conduct a first review by relevant departments and a second evaluation by the Seodaemun-gu Regulatory Reform Committee, assessing creativity, feasibility, and effectiveness of the submitted ideas.
In August, one grand prize winner, two excellence awardees, and two encouragement awardees will be selected and announced, with the mayor's certificate and a small gift certificate awarded.

The district plans to implement proposals that can be reflected internally through ordinance amendments and, if necessary, recommend related matters to the Seoul Metropolitan Government or government ministries. Mayor Moon Seok-jin stated, “I hope this contest for realizing a happy Seodaemun without inconvenient regulations will lead to the spread of a regulatory reform atmosphere, revitalization of the local economy, and improvement of residents' quality of life.”
