[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Cha Hyun-il) has installed three 'Smart IoT Air Showers' that purify fine dust at schools and nursing facilities around Mullae-dong, taking proactive administrative measures to reduce fine dust.
The 1㎦ area around Mullae Neighborhood Park was designated as a fine dust intensive management zone in January, and support measures are being prepared to resolve fine dust emitted from Mullae-dong iron workshops and others.
As part of this, the district installed 'Smart IoT Air Showers' at public facilities located in Mullae-dong to remove fine dust and create a pleasant environment.
The 'Smart Air Shower' resembles an airport security checkpoint and is installed at building entrances to block fine dust coming from outside.
The district conducted a demand survey in March targeting public facilities used by vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.
Considering the number of facility users and installation effects, three final locations were selected: Mullae Elementary School, Yeongdeungpo Senior Care Center, and Lohas Chamsarang Nursing Hospital.
The Smart Air Shower detects human movement, sucks in and removes ultrafine dust attached to the body and clothes, and purifies indoor air with its air cleaning function.
The LED sterilizer on the side of the device sterilizes and deodorizes the air and functions to capture viruses.
Additionally, using Internet of Things (IoT) technology, it analyzes indoor air quality and informs users of problems and improvement measures.
Moreover, the district is making multifaceted efforts to reduce fine dust in the Mullae-dong area, including installing fine dust collectors, fine dust traffic lights, window-attached ventilation systems, and intensively operating water spraying trucks and dust suction vehicles.
In fact, the fine dust concentration in the area during the first quarter was 27㎍/㎥, showing a 41.3% decrease compared to 46㎍/㎥ during the same period last year.
