Jeonbuk Superintendent of Education Kim Seung-hwan Proposes Frontline Teacher Participation Plan for CSAT Question Committee 'Morakmorak'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Geon-ju] Kim Seung-hwan, Superintendent of Education for Jeonbuk Province, has reiterated the proposal for frontline high school teachers to participate as College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) question setters.
On the 1st, a spokesperson for the provincial education office stated that Superintendent Kim emphasized during an expanded executive meeting that “While we cannot be certain about the COVID-19 situation, if the CSAT is held in December, the composition of the question-setting committee is a crucial issue.”
In particular, he argued that if university professors participate as question setters, it would be difficult to secure committee members in time, and that it is more appropriate for frontline teachers who are directly teaching students to be responsible for setting the questions.
Additionally, the spokesperson conveyed that although some professors appointed as question setters might find it difficult to participate due to personal schedules in the second half of the year following the CSAT postponement, Superintendent Kim’s position is that the participation of frontline teachers is the right approach.
