The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 1st that from July, it will introduce the "Local Public Officials Anti-Nepotism Policy," which prohibits local public officials from being assigned to schools where their middle or high school children are enrolled.
The Anti-Nepotism Policy is a system designed to ensure fairness and transparency in the educational field by preventing school staff parents from working at the same school their children attend.
If a local public official's child is assigned to the school where the official is working, the official will be transferred to another location during the next regular personnel reshuffle. Regular personnel reshuffles for local public officials occur twice a year, on January 1 and July 1.
When submitting transfer request documents, officials will be required to provide information about their middle and high school children, which will be reflected during the regular personnel reshuffles.
Prior to this, since 2019, the Office of Education had introduced the "Teacher Anti-Nepotism Policy," which prohibits public school teachers from working at the same school as their children.
