Pohang City Operates Self-Developed 'Walking Through' Screening Clinic... Testing Time '5 Minutes'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] Pohang City, Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 31st that starting June 1st, the Buk-gu Public Health Center will reinforce the existing screening clinics and operate them using a self-developed non-face-to-face walking-through method in preparation for the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The newly introduced screening clinic is a medical booth equipped with positive pressure facilities to block the virus. After conducting a non-face-to-face epidemiological investigation via phone, medical staff wear gloves attached to the window and collect specimens from the testees waiting outside.
The newly introduced walking-through clinic takes only 5 minutes for testing. This significantly reduces the testing time compared to the existing general screening clinics, which take about 30 minutes, and has the major advantage of preventing secondary infections between medical staff and testees in advance.

Kwon Suwon, Director of Health Policy at Buk-gu Public Health Center, said, "The walking-through screening clinic we developed allows medical staff to conduct examinations safely without wearing protective suits," adding, "Since there is no need to separately disinfect the entire screening clinic after examinations, the speed of testing is more than four times faster than the existing method, which will increase satisfaction among citizens and medical staff."
