[Golf Topic] KLPGA Tour "COVID-19 Coexistence Plan"..."Increasing the Number of Prize Money Recipients"
[Asia Economy Kim Hyun-jun, Golf Specialist Reporter] ○... "Maximizing opportunities to receive prize money."
The Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour announced on the 30th that "due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the prize money rate for the 2020 season will be temporarily adjusted, and the number of players advancing to the final round will be expanded." This is to provide more benefits to players facing economic difficulties due to COVID-19. While the winner's prize money is reduced to 18%, the cut line for advancing to the third round will be extended to 70th place for tournaments with 102 to 108 players, and up to 80th place for events with 120 to 144 players.

The KLPGA Championship, which concluded on the 17th, made news by distributing prize money to all 150 players. Although the total prize money reached a whopping 3 billion KRW, the winner Park Hyun-kyung (20, Korea Land & Trust) received only 220 million KRW, less than 10% of the total. For the first time in KLPGA Tour history, the 'MDF (Made cut, Did not Finish)' system was applied, where players tied for 102nd place after the third round and those tied for 70th place after the final round advanced. The last-place finisher received 6.42 million KRW.
