U+ Pro Baseball App Adds New Content Including Baseball Magazine and Drama
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LG Uplus announced on the 31st that it has revamped the professional baseball dedicated app 'U+ Pro Baseball' with a UX (user experience) optimized for team-specific cheering and updated it by adding new content such as baseball magazines and dramas.
U+ Pro Baseball introduced real-time chat, games, and position-specific video functions in front of cheering squads useful for 'home cheering' in line with the 2020 domestic professional baseball season, which opened on the 5th without spectators for the first time in the world due to the impact of COVID-19.
In addition, thanks to customer response such as the steady increase in app unique visitors (UV) since the opening, the app added an intuitive UX design optimized for team cheering and content such as baseball magazines and dramas that can be enjoyed besides live broadcasts.
While maintaining the existing advantages optimized for real-time broadcast viewing, the app's UX design was improved to allow users to check the cheering team's game schedule, key players, and popular highlights at a glance. Also, the bottom 'Home', 'Team Info', 'Broadcast', 'Game', and 'MY' banners reduce usage steps by allowing direct access to desired functions without going through menus.
On the initial home screen, users can check today's game information, overall highlights, news, and other major baseball-related news. Even on days without games, all baseball-related news and videos can be checked at once.
After introducing the new feature 'Live Chat', it was improved to allow chat use in vertical screen mode during games based on customer feedback. Also, a mini-player function was introduced to make it convenient to use messenger apps such as Chat+ and KakaoTalk while watching broadcasts on U+ Pro Baseball.
Attractive content outside broadcast times was also enhanced. For the first time on mobile, the live broadcast and video on demand (VOD) of 'Baseball S', the country's top baseball magazine program on SBS Sports channel, are provided. In addition, new content such as the baseball drama 'Sahoein' was scheduled.
Meanwhile, on game days, users can predict the three highest-scoring teams, accumulate points, and receive gifts through the U+ Pro Baseball app game 'Challenge 999'. During June, prizes worth a total of 10 million KRW will be provided according to the cumulative point rankings, including ▲LG Electronics laptop 'Gram 17 i5' ▲Dyson air purifier ▲AirPods Pro ▲chicken exchange coupons ▲pizza exchange coupons.
Kim Min-gu, head of mobile services at LG Uplus, said, "As of the end of May, the unique visitors of the U+ Pro Baseball app increased by 22% compared to the same period last year and continue to grow," adding, "We will focus on the opinions of each baseball fan and continuously differentiate with immersive broadcasts to innovate customer experience."
