View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is recruiting participants for the Eco Mileage program to practice energy saving in daily life to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Eco Mileage is a system that awards mileage points based on the amount of energy saved in electricity, water, city gas, and district heating at homes, businesses, and schools.
Energy usage over six months is compared to the average usage during the same period over the previous two years, and participants can receive ▲10,000 mileage points for a 5-10% reduction ▲30,000 mileage points for a 10-15% reduction ▲50,000 mileage points for a reduction of 15% or more.
The awarded Eco Mileage points can be used for paying local taxes, apartment management fees, converting to cash, exchanging for traditional market gift certificates, and mobile cultural gift certificates.
Additionally, meaningful sharing activities such as donations for energy-poor households and tree donations to prevent desertification are also possible.
Enrollment in Eco Mileage can be done through the Seoul Eco Mileage website, the local community service center of the resident’s district, or the Clean Environment Division of Jungnang-gu Office.
The district achieved the great success of being selected as the best district for five consecutive years in the Eco Mileage project evaluation conducted by Seoul City in the first half of this year. As a result of active efforts such as promoting Eco Mileage enrollment when registering a move-in at the community service center, the current number of participants has exceeded 111,475, and those who have received mileage points have surpassed 43,638. The district plans to continue promoting and increasing the number of participants.
Furthermore, environmental and energy education is continuously conducted to inform residents about the seriousness of climate change and ways to save energy.
