Chosun University Selected for 'High School Education Contribution University Support Project' for 13 Consecutive Years
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] A foundation has been laid for Chosun University to carry out various support projects targeting high school students.
Chosun University (President Min Youngdon) announced on the 28th that it has been selected for the Ministry of Education’s ‘University Support Project Contributing to High School Education’ for 13 consecutive years.
The University Support Project Contributing to High School Education was launched in 2014 by the Ministry of Education to enhance reliability, fairness, and transparency in college admissions processes and procedures, aiming to create a high school education environment faithful to the curriculum.
In 2020, 75 universities were selected for this project, and Chosun University has recorded ‘13 consecutive years of selection’ since being chosen for the predecessor project, the ‘Admissions Officer System Operation Support Project,’ which has been operated since 2008.
This year’s selection evaluation was based mainly on the 2020 project plan and the university-specific college admissions implementation plan (for the 2022 academic year) announced last month.
In particular, this evaluation formed a specialized committee for each evaluation area, strengthening fairness and professionalism compared to previous methods.
Chosun University contributed to enhancing the substance of admissions by designing and operating admissions based on public education, enabling preparation solely through school education without reliance on private education.
Additionally, it received high marks for efforts to fulfill the university’s social responsibilities, such as expanding equal opportunity admissions, strengthening support for academic persistence of low-income students, and expanding information provision to information-disadvantaged areas and groups, including farming and fishing villages and island regions.
The project period is two years (1+1), and the total project budget for 2020 increased to approximately 70 billion KRW from 55.9 billion KRW last year.
Chosun University will receive 1.192 billion KRW in support from the Ministry of Education through this project selection.
Going forward, Chosun University will operate programs for high school students such as Walking Together Career, Dreams Found in Books, CU Admissions Briefings and Mock Interviews, Major Stories Told by Professors, CU Major Experience, CU Future Major Design, Visiting Counselors, Visiting Club Support, High School Club Support, and CU Mock Interviews.
