Two Firefighters Found Dead in Chuncheon... Suspected Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Juhee] Two firefighters died from carbon monoxide poisoning while sleeping in a house in Chuncheon, Gangwon, caused by a wood-fired boiler.
The police reported that at around 8 a.m. on the 28th, members of the group discovered and reported that A (40) and B (44), both belonging to the Hongcheon Fire Station, were found dead in a loess room attached to a house in Chujeon-ri, Buksan-myeon, Chuncheon City.
Eight 119 rescue team members, including A, from the same Hongcheon Fire Station, visited the place at around 2 p.m. the previous day (27th) for a social gathering. It was confirmed that the accident site was the home of one of the group members' parents.
The two deceased firefighters were sleeping in the loess room heated by the wood-fired boiler when the accident occurred, while the other six members slept in a different location and were unharmed, according to the investigation.
