Roy Kim's New Song 'Saraganun Geoya' Released... Enlisting in Marine Corps in June
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Juhee] Singer Roy Kim has released his self-composed song "Sal-aganeun Geoya" ahead of his military enlistment.
On the 27th, Roy Kim released the digital single "Sal-aganeun Geoya (Linger On)." This is his first new song in 1 year and 8 months since the release of "Uri Geumanhaja" in September 2018.
The new song "Sal-aganeun Geoya" features lyrics and composition directly by Roy Kim. It conveys the message that when efforts to move forward become overwhelming and no one recognizes it, at the end, you will have grown a little more.
The music video released along with the track evokes a lyrical atmosphere, showing Roy Kim calmly climbing a hill in heavy rain from behind.
Roy Kim was involved in controversy in 2019 when he was identified as a member of the so-called "Jung Joon-young chatroom."
During the investigation, it was confirmed that around 2016, Roy Kim took a screenshot of an image from a portal site blog on his phone and shared it in a KakaoTalk chatroom. He received a suspended indictment for this incident in February.
His agency, Stone Music Entertainment, stated, "Roy Kim deeply regrets and reflects on his reckless behavior, not realizing that this act could constitute the crime of distributing obscene material regardless of intent," and added, "the KakaoTalk chatroom Roy Kim was part of was a separate chatroom from the problematic one."
Roy Kim debuted in 2013 with the single "Bombom Bom" and gained great popularity by releasing hit songs such as "Love Love Love," "Home," "Bukdu Chilseong," "Geuttae Heeojimyeon Dwae," and "Uri Geumanhaja."
