[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] A confirmed case of COVID-19 has been reported at a large call center in Bucheon City, Gyeonggi Province. It appears that COVID-19 patients originating from the Coupang Bucheon logistics center are spreading to the metropolitan area.
Bucheon City announced on the 27th that employee A, who works at the call center located in the Joongdong Ubase Tower building, tested positive for COVID-19. The call center employs about 1,600 people, making it the largest in the country.
A works as a counselor on the 7th floor call center of the building and was found to have worked part-time at the Coupang Bucheon logistics center, where confirmed cases have recently occurred, on the 23rd and 24th.
He went to work at the call center on the 25th and began showing symptoms such as sore throat and cough in the afternoon. After informing the company of these symptoms, A self-isolated and underwent testing on the 26th, which confirmed a positive COVID-19 result. Three colleagues who worked near A tested negative.
