Yeosu City Holds Premiere of Fifth Tourism Web Drama 'Hojupmong'
10 AM on the 29th at Jinnam Munye Hall... Lead Actors, Filming Staff, and Citizens Invited
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu City (Mayor Kwon Oh-bong) will hold a preview screening of its fifth tourism promotional web drama, ‘Hojupmong’.
Yeosu City announced on the 27th that it has completed the final editing of the web drama ‘Hojupmong,’ which began production in December last year, and will premiere it for the first time at Jinnam Cultural Center on the 29th through a preview screening.
‘Hojupmong’ is set in the year 2100, when South Korea’s population has rapidly declined due to a continued low birthrate. Feeling a sense of crisis, the government and local authorities have established a system where children are produced through artificial insemination and raised by robots, sustaining society.
The story follows a young man named Yeomiro living in this future Yeosu who accidentally time travels to Yeosu in 2023. There, he meets Dajeong, a YouTuber from Jungchon Village in Sora-myeon, and Dongwoo, her childhood friend who has a crush on her, forming a love triangle.
The drama consists of five episodes with a total runtime of 45 minutes. Episode 1, titled ‘My Love from the Star,’ begins with Miro’s time travel from 2100 to Yeosu in 2023. Episodes 2 through 5 are titled ‘Old Friendship,’ ‘Midas’ Touch,’ ‘Longed-for Face,’ and ‘Reversed Time,’ respectively. The story ends by questioning the audience whether the future is a dream or the present is a dream, and which society is happier.
Through scenes of the main characters visiting Yeosu’s tourist attractions and filming YouTube videos, the drama showcases the city’s beautiful tourist spots. ‘Hojupmong’ will be fully released on YouTube after the preview screening.
Since 2015, Yeosu City has produced and released a web drama annually, playing a leading role in establishing Yeosu as a central city for marine tourism, promoting it domestically and internationally.
Notably, the 2019 web drama ‘Dongbaek’ was officially invited to the Bilbao Web Fest in Spain and won the Golden Wolf Award, garnering empathy and support from overseas web filmmakers for the investigation of the Yeosu-Suncheon Incident and the prompt enactment of a special law.
