"3rd Quarter Youth Basic Income Provided Early in July"... Bucheon City Accepts Applications Until Next Month 22
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 27th that it will make early payments of the youth basic income for the third quarter starting in July this year. This measure aims to support young people facing economic difficulties due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and to revitalize the local commercial district.
The youth basic income is a youth welfare policy project that provides 240,000 KRW per quarter, up to a maximum of 1,000,000 KRW annually, in local currency (Bucheon Pay) to 24-year-old youth.
The eligible applicants for the third quarter are young people born between July 2, 1995, and July 1, 1996, who have continuously resided in Gyeonggi Province for more than three years or have a combined residence history of more than ten years, and currently have an address in Bucheon City.
Applicants can apply online or via mobile on the Gyeonggi job platform 'Jobaba' website (http://apply.jobaba.net) from June 1 to 22.
Due to changes in the application period for the second quarter this year, young people born between April 2, 1995, and July 1, 1995, who did not meet the conditions or were not selected in the second quarter can exceptionally apply retroactively even if their birthdates do not fall within the third quarter eligibility period.
Meanwhile, those who received the youth basic income for the second quarter and agreed to automatic application do not need to apply separately, but if there are changes in personal information, they must update their application details. New applicants, those who did not agree to automatic application, and those not selected in the second quarter must apply within the application period to receive the youth basic income.
Young people confirmed as payment recipients will receive a notification message on the mobile phone number entered during application. After registering their card through the Gyeonggi local currency mobile app or customer center (1899-7997), the youth basic income will be sequentially paid in local currency starting after July 10 and can be used.

However, usage is restricted at department stores, large supermarkets, corporate supermarkets (SSM), entertainment establishments, and the like.
