Korea Technology's Hongmi Note 9s Sold Out in Two Days of Pre-Orders
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Korea Technology, a KOSDAQ-listed company and the official domestic distributor of Xiaomi, announced on the 27th that all 2,000 units prepared of the Xiaomi smartphone 'Redmi Note 9S,' officially launched through domestic mobile carriers for the first time in two years, were sold out within two days of the start of pre-sales.
Korea Technology began limited pre-order sales of 2,000 units of the Redmi Note 9S on the 25th through carrier malls such as SKT T World Direx Shop, LG Uplus Shop, KT M Mobile, as well as online malls including Coupang, 11st, and LCD Nara.
The combination of cost-effectiveness, simultaneous release of unlocked and carrier versions, and pre-order gifts quickly spread by word of mouth among consumers, leading to the complete sell-out of the limited 2,000 units two days before the pre-sale deadline.
Experts attribute the popularity of the Redmi Note 9S not only to its product performance and cost-effectiveness surpassing its predecessor but also to the recent spread of practical and rational consumption trends driven by social issues.
The unexpectedly high initial sales volume has put Korea Technology, the distributor, on alert regarding supply management.
Since the pre-orders sold out, and event-related costs such as gifts have already been incurred, if sales channels request an extension of the event, additional product supply and gift costs will arise.
