'Original Variety Voice' Voice Actor Kim Young-min Passes Away at 61
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Seulgi Kim] Voice actor Kim Young-min (real name Kim Jeyong), known as the 'original MC' voice of TV programs ranging from music shows to news, has passed away at the age of 61.
On the 26th, the Korea Voice Actors Association announced the passing of Kim Young-min. Kim Young-min debuted in 1983 as the 18th KBS public recruitment voice actor after working as a broadcast writer and popular song lyricist.
He then narrated various programs such as SBS's 'Live TV Music 20', 'SBS 8 News', and MBC's 'TV Genius Chronicles', and from the early 1990s, he worked as a voice MC for entertainment shows.
In addition, he voiced numerous foreign films and animations, notably serving as the dedicated voice for Mickey Rourke and Wesley Snipes in foreign films.
In 2013, he debuted as a poet in the monthly magazine Changjo Munye and was active as a poet. Last April, he co-founded the audiobook specialized company 'Audiobook Wiz' with active voice actors.
He was recognized for opening paths for junior voice actors to enter various fields and served as the Public Relations Director of the Korea Voice Actors Association and Vice President of the KBS Voice Actors' Club.
