Launch of Gwanak-gu Human Rights Committee

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwanak-gu District Office (Mayor Park Jun-hee) formed the Gwanak-gu Human Rights Committee in accordance with the ordinance on the protection and promotion of human rights in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, which was enacted and implemented on September 24 last year, and held an appointment ceremony on the 25th.
The Gwanak-gu Human Rights Committee consists of 13 experts in various fields including ▲law ▲children and youth ▲women ▲migrants ▲persons with disabilities, who have extensive knowledge and experience in human rights, and will serve a term until May 24, 2022.
The main roles include ▲deliberating policies for the protection and promotion of residents' human rights ▲establishing and evaluating basic and implementation plans ▲conducting human rights impact assessments.
On the 25th, the district held the appointment ceremony and the 1st regular meeting of the Human Rights Committee in the Planning Situation Room on the 5th floor of the district office, where they reported on the progress of human rights work, presented appointment letters to appointed members, and elected the chairperson and vice-chairperson.
With the launch of the Human Rights Committee, Gwanak-gu plans to establish a four-year basic plan for the protection and promotion of residents' human rights and to promote human rights education for employees.
