[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu Reporter] The Ministry of National Defense expressed regret over the United Nations Command's conclusion that both South and North Korea violated the armistice agreement in the shooting incident at the South Korean guard post (GP) in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that occurred on the 3rd.
On the 26th, the Ministry of National Defense stated regarding the investigation results, "We regret that the United Nations Command announced the results without conducting a substantive investigation into the North Korean military's shooting."
It added, "Our field unit responded appropriately according to the manual in response to the North Korean military's shooting at that time."
Earlier that day, the United Nations Command announced that a multinational special investigation team concluded that both South and North Korea violated the armistice agreement in the North Korean GP shooting incident. A UN Command official added, "However, it could not be definitively determined whether the four shots were intentional or accidental."
