The Jeonbuk Office of Education announced that on the 27th, 95,513 students from 955 schools across the province, including kindergarteners, first and second graders, third-year middle school students, and second-year high school students, will begin their first day of school in 87 days.
Schools across the province are known to be fully committed to thorough 'quarantine' measures timed with the arrival of most students.
First graders, who are entering elementary school and stepping onto the school grounds for the first time, will see the principal’s face through a broadcast.
This is because the entrance ceremony will be held via classroom broadcasts rather than on the playground.
In the case of Hyocheon Elementary School in Hyoja-dong, which opened on March 1, it stated, “Following the Office of Education’s guidelines, wearing masks and thorough disinfection are the principles, and social distancing will be maintained by staggering school start times by grade and arranging desks in a zigzag pattern.”
The Jeonbuk Office of Education remains vigilant, considering that the number of students returning to school on the 27th is the largest among the four phases of reopening.
The Office has checked whether special disinfection has been conducted at all schools in the province and confirmed whether ongoing disinfection plans have been established.
In particular, they have verified whether ‘temporary observation rooms’ are prepared to isolate students showing symptoms or confirmed cases temporarily before testing at screening clinics upon arrival or after school.
Additionally, they plan to proactively respond to measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, such as meal time operation plans, adjusting school start times to avoid congestion, and maintaining social distancing of at least 1 meter.
