Jangsu-gun Provides ‘Saengsaeng Support Fund’ to Unemployed Youth
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Go Dallyoung] Jangsu-gun announced on the 26th that it will promote the ‘COVID-19 Response Youth Support Project’ and provide subsidies to ease the employment burden of youth businesses struggling due to the impact of COVID-19 and to stabilize the livelihoods of young people who have lost their jobs.
According to Jangsu-gun on the 26th, the COVID-19 Response Youth Support Project is provided in two types: ‘Youth Vitality Subsidy Support’ for unemployed youth and ‘Youth Part-time Workforce Support’ for youth-run businesses.
The ‘Vitality Subsidy Support’ targets the blind spots where young people mainly work part-time jobs that are not covered by employment insurance and therefore cannot receive unemployment benefits. Eligibility requires youths aged 18 to 39 residing in Jangsu-gun.
Selected recipients will receive a subsidy of 500,000 KRW per person for up to three months in the form of Jangsu Love Gift Certificates.
Detailed eligibility criteria for selected recipients include having worked part-time or similar for at least one month at the same business and having been unemployed for at least one month from January 20, the date of the first confirmed COVID-19 case in Korea, until the announcement date.
The ‘Part-time Workforce Support’ is a project that temporarily supports labor costs for up to four months, providing up to 2 million KRW per month (including 20% business contribution) when a business with fewer than five regular employees and a youth representative newly hires a part-time youth worker. The applicant business must be located in Jangsu-gun.
