[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 26th that it will significantly expand incentives for domestic tourists to travel agencies starting this month to help the local tourism industry affected by COVID-19 and to improve the system toward ‘inbound tourism’ after COVID-19.
First, the city greatly increased the bus vehicle fee support from 200,000 to 800,000 KRW for groups of 20 or more tourists to 500,000 to 1,200,000 KRW.
Also, for tourists using trains or flights with groups of 5 or more, transportation costs of 20,000 to 30,000 KRW per person will be supported, and if they stay overnight, 10,000 KRW per person and about 10% of the meal cost per person will be paid proportionally to the payment amount.
In addition, travel agencies developing Gwangju tourism products will receive up to 500,000 KRW per agency for promotional expenses up to three times, and travel agencies attracting school trip groups will be paid 5,000 to 8,000 KRW per person.
Details of the support and application procedures can be found on the Gwangju city website under notices and announcements.
