"Thank You for COVID-19 Prevention Efforts" ... Stamp on 'Prevention Rules' Poster Draws Attention
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] South Korea's novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) prevention system has been gaining global attention, and recently, a poster recycling campaign conducted by Seoul City has become a hot topic.
Seoul City announced on the 26th that it recently stamped the phrase "Thank you so much" on the early "COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines" posters located in subway stations. The stamps also include messages such as "You who keep social distancing in daily life are heroes" and "COVID-19, we have overcome it together with you. Please remain a hero until the end."
This recycling campaign aims to minimize the use of disposable items, which have surged during the COVID-19 response, by reusing about 2,000 early COVID-19 posters attached in 35 subway stations across Seoul to express gratitude to citizens and deliver continuous messages about social distancing in daily life.
Students from Hansung University's Game Illustration Department attracted the attention of subway users as they manually applied stencils, paint, and rollers to each poster in the subway stations. Seoul City plans to distribute promotional videos of the process through YouTube and other platforms.

Park Jin-young, Seoul City's Citizen Communication Planning Officer, emphasized, "Seoul City has presented a new prevention standard in the era of infectious diseases. Although the meaning of a single poster is small, this campaign will serve as a new opportunity to prepare for the post-COVID era by creatively delivering messages while recycling existing promotional materials."
